deviantART inc. is the world’s largest online art house, with over 7 million members and an archive of more than 56 million works. DeviantART features over 740 genres of art, organized in a comprehensive category structure, and receives 75,000 submissions per day and 36 million visitors annually. The sites goal, in a nutshell, is to democratize and inspire art.
In October 2004 I was contracted to develop a series of advertismnets to be displayed on the site promoting the sale of artists works through deviantARTs print program for the christmas shopping season. A series of illustrations were created featuring the sites mascot “Fella” in various holiday related situations, building a snowman, hanging lights, receiving sweaters as gifts, and so on. Another series was developed where artists works were framed and gift wrapped digitally. Some clever copy was added after consultation with the in house staff, and after approval from the creative director the ads went live.
In 2005 I continued work for deviantART on advertising and floor plans for the first deviantART Summit at the Palladium in Los Angeles California. No floor plan was available from the venue so using photos and rough sketches I created floor plan and then handed off to the creative team at deviantArt to be used in the program guide handed out at the registration booth.
