Just in time for summer Deys Fabricating and I are happy to unveil the new DeysFab.com website.
The design updates the previous static and dated version of the companies online presence, and brings a fantastic fresh design inspired by water and light.

Along with the new look, the back-end has undergone some radical changes. A new content management system was implemented, bringing with it a blog, an improved pattern showroom, and an easy to maintain site.

PodCamp London was a smashing success. Tons of people, plenty of great sessions, and best of all I got to see my work all over the place.
Over the last few months I’ve been helping make PodCamp London the best looking PodCamp ever. Everything from signage, stickers, name badges, to hats, shirts, and more I had my fingerprint on and it was fun to see it all come together. I even had a limited set of posters printed out that I had everyone sign. Bill and Titus, the main organizers, got two, and Duane Brown won the other. I hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed putting them together.
And speaking of sessions.

Last weekend was PodCamp Toronto, a free UnConference surrounding the ever evolving new media realm.
I attended several sessions that broke down into one of two categories; metrics and technical. I enjoyed the technical sessions a bit more, as the metrics sessions often felt like a sales pitch.
My favorite was Government 2.0 by Mike Kujawski. It helps that I’ve had some experience in this realm as well, before the term government 2.0 was even a gleam in someones eye I was pushing municipal governments to jump into the web and to use it to connect with citizens more directly and efficiently. The Mayor of Fort Frances got the message in early 2005 and despite being unfamiliar with new media he was willing to jump in feet first. So it’s always interesting to see where government is changing in response to shifting trends with citizens.
All in all it was a very enjoyable experience; I’ve already expressed my interest in helping organize next years PodCamp Toronto, and I got to meet a number of great people who I hope to stay in contact with. If you have the chance next year you should definitely come out, and in the mean time see if there is a PodCamp near you!

Just in time for PodCamp Toronto last week I received two exciting packages in the mail. You guessed it, my new business cards and stickers! The title gave it away, right?
I’m very pleased with how the stickers turned out. I had them done at Sticker Giant and the price, quality, and service were excellent. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for some stickers to promote their brand, or just to fool around with.
The business cards however I was not as pleased with. I ran them through Juke Box Print in Vancouver, as well as a clients business card order, and there were numerous problems with the order. Mine were at least usable but my clients were complete garbage. Fortunately they are willing to reprint them free of charge so we’ll see how the second batch turns out. Until then, despite the great price promotion, I can’t give them a stellar recommendation.
If you want a few of either you can send me a self addressed stamped envelope or find me in person and I should have a few. As always, feel free to offer any thoughts you may have.
Update: The second batch for my client came through. They were much better then the first run, although still a little off center. None the less they were good enough to present to the client despite that one nit pick.
