Hello 2010.

It wouldn’t be a new year if I didn’t push out some new updates for the site and reflect a little on the previous year’s comings and goings.

A Year in Review.

2009 started off rather briskly with the work on CastRoller going public as the service came out of beta. Almost immediately people took notice and it appeared print and numerous design sites online.

Next was PodCamp London, the social media event of the year in London Ontario. It’s possibly the most fun I’ve had to date with a project thanks to the great people organizing it. It also allowed me the opportunity to do a session with Mathew Hoy on brand guides that people loved, and paved the way for me to do a talk latter in the year on email marketing at SMArts London.

Deys Fabrication and Stratford Festival Review came shortly after, followed by a new business card for Titus Ferguson and a new logo for the Punk a Day podcast.

Stamps, stickers and business cards were another milestone of the year, showing off the new branding and new information after my move to Toronto. And finally, CodeCamp Waterloo rounded out the year.

Realign

The previous version of this website was less then eight months old, but before the year was out I was already working on this update to the site. Not just a fresh coat of paint, but a realignment of the goals and purpose of this site with a fresh coat of paint as an accompaniment.

That being said, look at this coat of paint!

Kidding aside you’ll likely find a lot of the site very familiar with a few key additions. The whole site is now running on a content management system allowing a more consistent and fluid application of new content and design.

The sidebars have been cleaned up; asides are still there, but now you’ll see a list of upcoming events I’ll be at, the occasional ad for something I’m pushing, and a list of some friends to check out as well.

The home page is likely the most drastic of all the changes visually, I always have struggled to keep it up to date, but the new CMS and the flexible layout should help alleviate that problem.

And lastly a dedicated page for the quarterly newsletter In Brief with links to past issues; I hope to get a few more people signed up as a result and so far it seems to be working.

There are a few more changes to see around the site, so feel free to click around. Please let me know if anything looks off or something isn’t working. Or any comments you have at all about the new site and this post.

Here’s to you and I having a great 2010. Thanks!
